Hard to find all original Macgregor dealer woods from about 1954-5. Several exceptional features - (1) flawless faces including inserts and side edges with no swelling - consistent surface top/bottom and left/right, (2) crowns, toes and weighted backs excellent, (3) whipping covers flawless with no cracks - couple rings missing on 4W but they appear they came that way, (4) flawless decals and engravings. Very fine leather wrap grips with cap and collars in place - grips still playably soft. The 1 and 3 have nearly perfect Tru Flexion shaft bands (with pulled bow) - 4 wood band intact but faded. Shafts show some step fading but excellent chrome sparkle compensates. # 1 aluminum soleplate with gouged front edge offcenter on heel - # 3 brass plate with 2 small front nicks which appear sandable - # 4 brass plate nearly perfect. Deep face driver 1 9/16', driver length 43". Kroll was best known for shooting 60 in a tour round and being a leading money winner one year. But he also won 1 of the 2 Philadelphia Daily News Opens on Philadelphia's famed monster public course - Cobb's Creek. In one of the Opens Arnie took a 9 on par 4 # 5 (now # 3) which crossed Cobb's Creek twice and had water also behind the green. What a course!
