Real cool 55 degree 8 iron from Kroydon, a well known NJ manufacturer of quality equipment acquired by RAM in the 1950's. As you know the '9' in most early sets was the putter and many eight's and niblicks had at least PW loft or greater. That's why many early sets don't need a modern day wedge. Large blade with alternating lines and diamonds. Very thin top line. Flat sole with no bounce. Very nice Panther engraving. Long pinned hosel and good ferrule. Good seamed steel shaft probably a Bristol - it is possible to see the seam on a close look. The shaft can be spray painted or left as is. Fine 13 1/2" leather wrap grip with good wood endplug and whipped collar. This '8' iron is a ladies version with the "L" and is a perfect wedge at 35" length- how nice! These are not very easy to hit properly with the near-dig sole being face forward but a non quiche-eater will appreciate.
