Ready for play! Great set of early 1930's Spalding S/N matched transition irons. Note the advertisement where Jones is sitting beside the dual length irons - his remark is '... by introducing the brand new idea of matching in pairs as to length and lie! This means that you need master only one stance for every two clubs'. This was the basis for the simpletonsgolf.com design of using two matched lengths to simplify the number of player setups.Very good to fine heads with a few sole scratches. Note the large size of the blades! Absolutely perfect ferrules and absolutely perfect yellow sheathed steel shafts. Beautiful red-green-red trim whipping under patent label. Patent labels quite good with a few almost totally readable. Excellent long New Jones Form Grips with perforations and backside finger ribs on 2-9 except for 5 and 7 where perforated wraps used as replacements. Set also includes the Jones Kro-Flite RU "run-up" chipper with excellent ferrule, perfect soft brown steel shaft and seamed perforated long leather grip. Note the heads have the cushion-neck feature (a soft sleeve inside the hosel for shock reduction). If you enjoy playing with older classic models, you will love these. Spalding made several thousand sets of these as opposed to the wood shafted commemoratives worth in the $ 5-7,000 range but these are imminently more playable.
